Once upon a time, when my brothers and my mom and I all got together for holidays at my house, I would make that sad green bean casserole. You know the one. The one on every container of French’s French fried onions. Oddly, I was just at the French’s website trying to find that recipe and I got 45 search results for green bean casserole. That’s crazy. I don’t need 45 different ways to use those things with green beans. What did green beans ever do to French’s?
Since then, I’ve upped my game. And I’d like to share.
For the record, I hate having to own a bunch of kitchen tools. I don’t have a lot of space and I don’t like spending my money this way. Unfortunately, this recipe calls for the use of a cast iron skillet. I know not everyone has one. You can use a regular pan with a metal handle instead but be sure to remember to use a pot holder when you remove the pan from the oven. It’s so easy to forget!
This recipe was from a magazine, but I don’t have any info about which magazine. I have changed a few ingredients
I didn’t take a picture because this came out of the oven right about the time that my Pyrex was exploding. I’ll have to take a picture when I make this for Christmas. Oh my, that’s only about a week away!
